    Private John Thomas Bennett, South Lancashire REgiment, whose home was at 126 Gorsey Lane, Warrington, was killed in action on October 9. He was 27 years of age, and was educated at the National Schools, Church-street. He joined the Army in January, 1917. He had been three times to the front, and on various occasions been in hospital suffering from trench fever, heart failure and concussion, the last named resulting from his being blown up by a shell. He was a well known member of Brick Street Mission. Before the war he carried on the business of milk dealer. The second-lieutenant writes :- "I was very sorry to lose him, for he was a good fellow, and was liked by all in his platoon.""
