| Occupation* | 2 April 1911 | Sydney Baxter was an iron wworks manager on 2 April 1911.7 |
| Biography* | 1919 | He followed his elder brother to Lichfield and brought Church Farm Whittington from the same estate that his brother was on. He must have help from his family, his father died that year so needed to find a home for himself. Church Farm was then 160 acres for he paid about £16,000 but within 2 years it was only worth half that amount. It wasn't a good start but he added to it later so survived. He moved in as bachelor in 1920. He milked cows grew potatoes kept sheep hens pigs as most farmers did with the work being done with horses. He had a house keeper who did all the jobs a farmers wife would have done which must have worried my father, so he met and married my mother in 1934 and the house keeper did not last long.8,9 |
| Occupation | between 1919 and 1955 | He was a farmer between 1919 and 1955 at Church Farm, Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, .9 |
| Marriage* | 6 January 1934 | He married Ida Hammond, daughter of Arthur Hammond and Kate Topliss, on 6 January 1934.9 |
| Biography | | He did not get involved with the political side of farming as he must have thought one in the family was enough. He was chairman of Lichfield branch of N.F.U. and the local agricultural society that ran local show and Ploughing matches. He always kept his interest in sport playing cricket for Whittington and allowing the local village football team to play in one his fields. He often watched them play. He was an Aston Villa fan and used to take his son Roy to watch them with farmer friends of his, parking the car on a bombsite. His main interest later was golf at the local course know then as Whittington Barracks and the card game Bridge. These took over as my parents main interests in later years.9 |
| Death* | 28 April 1955 | Sydney Baxter died after an accident with a bull on 28 April 1955 at Church Farm, Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, , at age 69. He was on his way to the golf club when he saw his men having difficulties with getting the bull into it's pen. He was knocked down. He was taken to hospital but died some time later.9 |
| Burial* | May 1955 | He was buried in May 1955 at St Giles, Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire, England, .9 |
