Following this, and instructed by his father, Alfred Rathbone bashfully sent JW a book of his verse, collected and privately printed by Philip Rathbone, entitled Varying moods expressed in various verse: it was published by Unwin Bros., Chilworth and London, probably earlier in 1891. He wrote to JW: 'The pieces we at home consider most characteristic are ticked in pencil in the index' [#05106]. JW described it as 'dainty' and 'charming' [#09387]. JW's copy is included with some two hundred of his other books in Glasgow University Library.3 |
